April 20, 2024:
The Master Cubz team competed in the First Lego League Challenge (FLL) World Final in Houston at the last week and were up against 152 teams from around the world. By the end of the competition, they brought back two top-honor trophies—the Champion Award Finalist (tied for 2nd place) and 5th place in Robot Performance, ranking 1st place in both for US teams.
The team designed and delivered three impeccable robot runs with one max score; one innovation project featuring using AI to help vision-impaired people; and presented warm and cooperative core values, all of which were factored into the final awards.
January 19, 2024:
Congratulations to Andover’s MasterCubz robotics team for winning the FIRST Lego League state championships for the 2023–2024 “Masterpiece” challenge. We wish them the best of luck as they head to the final round at the FIRST Robotics World Festival in Houston this spring!
October 11, 2023:
A local middle school robotics team, “The Master Cubz,” set out to solve some real-world problems through technology and creativity. Their 3D-printed replica of the Addison’s model ship Clermont was designed to enhance the museum experience for those with visual impairments.
At a public program held at the Addison on October 1, visitors were invited to touch the model and press a button to hear a text-to-sound recording that describes the Clermont through an Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated script.
The Master Cubz’s prototype will be on display at the Addison Gallery for visitors to interact with and provide feedback through October 24 before it heads off to the First Lego League competition. We wish them the very best of luck!
