Workshop: On and Off the Loom

Sheila Hicks, Fenêtre II, 2009

Inspired by the exhibition America in the Making, join artist and educator Luba Shapiro Grenader for a hands-on exploration of fiber, weaving, and soft sculpture. Participants will look closely, sketch, and discuss fiber works in the exhibition before experimenting with weaving and developing their own approaches to creating original fiber constructions with everyday materials. As these familiar materials take new forms, participants are invited to reflect on possibilities for change and new beginnings. No prior experience is necessary. This free program is open to adults as well as families, but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required.

Thursday, November 19, 6:00–7:30pm
