Commentary

Robert Henri's Self -Portrait - 7:45am, a rapidly executed pencil sketch on a small envelope, is a caricature that demonstrates Henri's gestural spontaneity and playful humor. This drawing is fascinating because it reveals the artist's personality. It is also interesting in relation to the work of his second wife, Marjorie Organ, who had been a cartoonist for the World and Tournai newspapers.
