Convergence: Anila Quayyum Agha, Lalla Essaydi, Yun-Fei Ji, and Fred Liang
January 27 – July 31, 2018
Organized to be in dialogue with the Addison’s retrospective of Mark Tobey, Convergence spotlights four international-born artists, Anila Quayyum Agha, Lalla Essaydi, Yun-Fei Ji, and Fred Liang, who now live and work in the United States. Each creates work that integrates Eastern and Western and traditional and contemporary techniques, perspectives, and histories. Together these artists represent a wide range of influences and approaches, yet they also share the unique clarity that comes from seeing the world through multiple lenses. Not bound by a single geography, country, or style their hybrid forms and approaches offer insight into what it means to be a 21st century artist in an increasingly globalized world.
Generous support for this exhibition has been provided by the Mollie Bennett Lupe and Garland M. Lasater Exhibitions Fund.
