Phillips Academy Programs

Intended by museum founder Thomas Cochran (PA 1890) “to enrich permanently the lives of students at Phillips Academy,” the Addison Gallery promotes and supports innovative methods of multidisciplinary, experimental learning by integrating the museum into many aspects of the Phillips Academy community experience.

The Addison works closely with Phillips Academy faculty in all disciplines to plan class visits that complement course syllabi through exhibitions, collection objects made available for viewing in the Museum Learning Center and online, and the Edward E. Elson Artist-In-Residence Program.

Education Staff also works closely with students, faculty, clubs, and departments—such as the Office of Community and Multicultural Development (CAMD) and Community Service—to plan special events and programs that bring art, artists, and cultural dialogues into the lives of members of the Phillips Academy and public community.
