All Hands on Deck! Images of Boating Culture in American Art

The Addison is pleased to participate in Memorial Hall Library's community book club Andover Reads. This year's book is The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, about the nine underdog American rowers who won the gold medal at the 1936 Olympics.

In "All Hands On Deck! Images of Boating Culture in American Art," Addison Curatorial Assistant Kelley Tialiou will explore the role of boating in American culture through paintings, watercolors, photographs, and sketches by such artists as Mary Cassatt, Stuart Davis, Lyonel Feininger, Winslow Homer, John La Farge, Fitz Henry Lane, Charles Sheeler, and Stuart Travis from the Addison’s collection and beyond. The event is free and open to the public.
