Addison Gallery Teams Up with AVIS, Andover Historical Society for Trails & Sails

The Addison Gallery is proud to be a part of the Essex National Heritage Area’s Trails & Sails program this fall. Trails & Sails offers opportunities to explore Essex County's cultural, historic, and natural sites over two weekends in September. All of the events are free and open to the public. This year the Addison, Andover Village Improvement Society (AVIS),and the Andover Historical Society are offering a series of events on Sunday, September 22 that make for a great afternoon exploring Andover.

AVIS will lead a 90-minute walk through the Goldsmith Woodlands to explore the mature forestland and the shoreline of Foster’s Pond, starting at 12:00 pm. From 2:00 to 3:00, join Addison Director Brian T. Allen for a tour of Natural Selections, exploring the many ways artists relate to the natural world. On view concurrently, James Prosek: The Spaces in Between showcases the exquisitely crafted and thought-provoking work of James Prosek, questioning accepted notions of how we understand and interpret the natural world. Finally, at 4:00 pm the Andover Historical Society will lead a 90-minute walking tour along beautiful Central Street in the heart of downtown Andover. For more details, visit www.trailsandsails.org.
